Duncan is tired. Ever since it had been announced that Rogues' Gallery would get a shot at Lights Out for the Duo’s Championship at Winter Wrestleland, they had switched to two-a-days for training on non-show or travel days. A workout either weights or cardio in the morning and then they met back up at Electric City Wrestling to go through some ring work. It was catching up to him fast and last night, after training Duncan had met an old friend out for some drinks. So here he was, sitting in front of his computer screen in his comic book shop that was deader than a doornail these days, hungover and dog tired.
He sighs and pulls his glasses off, rubbing his eyes. He sets his glasses down and rests his head on the cool desk in front of him. Before long he finds his eyelids getting heavier, a ping of a new message wakes him. He looks up at the screen and through his blurry vision he sees he has received a new message from SexySadie999971. Duncan shakes his head, mumbling to himself about the scams never stopping. Duncan set his head down again, but didn't realize his hand pressed down on the enter key as he drifted off to sleep. The message from SexySadie999971 opens and the words: Installing Raymond_II.exe, appears on the screen. Duncan finally drifts off completely, unaware of what he has just done.
On the astral plane, high above the Fortress of Solitude, Superunknown stands within his crystal starship again, monitoring the situation through this command center.
Superunknown: This isn't good… this is not good!
He watches as Raymond_II.exe spreads from Duncan's computer, through his network and into his ISP’s network. In no time at all, the virus now infected thousands in upstate New York and is growing exponentially. He presses a button on the command center.
Superunknown: We are going to need to call in back-up.
Suddenly a hand presses up against the semi-transparent barrier of Superunknown's ship. The Shadow has arrived.
Shadow: Why have you summoned me?
Superunknown: Yes, we're all in serious trouble.
Elsewhere a buried military installation door slides open at ground level and several drones whir to life. The drones lift off and set their course for Jeremy The Wicked, who is currently ripping a dirt bike through the forest in Northwest of Electric City. Alice In Chains “Nutshell” blasts in his ears.
We chase misprinted lies.
We face the path of time.
And yet I fight, and yet I fight, this battle alone.
No one to cry to, no place to call home.
Jeremy cranks the throttle and leaves a trail of mud in the air behind him. Suddenly, a drone appears above the treeline. Two more join it and they approach.
Back on the crystal starship.
Superunknown: I'm not sure why, but they are going after Jeremy.
Shadow: I might have an idea or two, the kids got some serious latent psychic abilities.
Superunknown: Can you get back to him in time?
The three drones descend on JTW. The first one to reach close proximity shoots out a titanium-laced, weighted net that knocks him off of his bike. Jeremy grits his teeth and tries to claw out of the net, but is unable to get free. A second drone hovers over him and releases some kind of Raymond that knocks him out cold.
Back in the crystal starship.
Shadow: I do not detect his presence.
Superunknown: What do you mean?
Shadow: He may be unconscious, and not just sleeping, but a deeper unconscious. It's like… he's offline.
Superunknown stares at the Shadow for a moment, wishing to ask the next question, but finding it difficult to.
Superunknown: Is he… dead?
The Shadow shakes his head.
Shadow: Can't be, otherwise… I wouldn't be here either.
Superunknown: We've got to go get him.
Shadow: We?
Superunknown: Yeah…
Superunknown closes his eyes and stands with his arms raised at his sides. He begins to hum a very low vibration and soon a faint, reddish light emits from the base of his spine and travels up to the top of his head where a white light escapes and begins to interact with the structure of the crystal starship. The whole thing begins to vibrate and fluctuate, casting off a near full spectrum of colors. Suddenly, the Shadow is sucked in through the membrane he was standing on the other side of. He now stands alongside Superunknown.
Shadow: Wait… what…. how?
Superunknown grins.
Superunknown: You're riding with me now.
Shadow: Ah. fudge!
Back on Earth, Duncan McKnown’s eyes fly open as he sits up and begins to transform. Lightning casts down all around him and a blinding light fills the room. When the light recedes, Superunknown stands there in all of his glory.
Superunknown: It is all over Earth news that the military is reporting missing equipment at an installation 10 miles south of here. I have narrowed down a possible location which they may have taken Jeremy. There is an abandoned warehouse not too far from here.
Shadow: Let’s see what we uncover then.
Superunknown: Indeed.
